International Students Creative Award 2025
ISCA(INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CREATIVE AWARD) is a global competition for film and digital content, challenging students worldwide with their fresh perspectives. Diverse works transcending national borders and genres intersect, forging new values for the future. ISCA has continuously evolved into a platform for discovering and nurturing young artists. In addition to the award presentation ceremony, experiencing the award-winning works, we will present a variety of programs including music, food, and workshops at "VS." under the theme of "Creativity".

Nippachi Festival
Under the theme “RAW, REAL, RHYTHM,” Nippachi Festival is a unique celebration where audiovisual art, live performances, and DJ sets intersect. More than just watching, it delivers an experience that sparks the desire to express yourself, awakening the sense of wonder and creative impulse you once felt as a child.In addition to performances by leading artists, the festival offers workshops and talk sessions that reveal the background and creative process behind the works. It also introduces the Cheer for Artists Program, allowing audiences to turn their emotions of inspiration and support into direct contributions to the performers. This is a new kind of music festival where artists and audiences grow culture together.

VS. Genshun Yamanouchi "Omniazimuth"

Genshun Yamanouchi, majoring in lacquerwork at Kyoto City University of Arts, creates unique musical instruments from scratch, handling everything from milling the wood to applying the lacquer. He also leads an ensemble in live performances to explore new sounds. This event centers on a live orchestra using his instruments, as multiple artists engage with his work to create a mystical world of music.

Creatism Junction
An invitation-only creative gathering, “Creatism Junction,” will be held at VS., bringing together individuals and companies engaged in creativity across the Kansai region to create a new cultural intersection. The event will feature a lounge where you can connect with local communities, programs that reveal the creative process behind the scenes, and even prototyping of an app designed to assist personal interactions. A wide range of initiatives will be offered to inspire those involved in creativity to further their imagination.

sakamotocommon OSAKA
1970/2025/OSAKA/RYUICHI SAKAMOTO
In 2025, as the World Expo returns to Osaka, we ask:might we pass on the inspiration that once stirred the young Sakamoto—to a new generation of creators—through the platform of sakamotocommon? With this in mind, we begin our project from “VS.,” a newly opened space in Umeda, Osaka.The exhibition will feature the Baschetsound sculptures originally shown at Expo ’70, along with newly created instruments crafted by the BaschetRestoration Team at Tokyo University of the Arts and Marti Ruiz —made especially for Sakamoto. In addition, using performance data from Sakamoto himself, audiences will be able to experience his beloved grand piano playing once more—offering a quiet echo of the hands that once shaped its sound.

Taiwan Spectrum
“Taiwan Spectrum” is a sensory journey through geography, history, culture, and contemporary art. Through the evolution of Taiwanese visual art, the exhibition reflects a vivid microcosm of cultural fusion, creativity, and renewal. Spanning visuals, craft, and sound, the exhibition is composed of three interconnected spaces. Each space reflects a cultural phenomenon. In the interplay of sound, color, and light, viewers witness the island’s ever-evolving cultural vitality and creative force. Through their work, artists inherit history and embrace the present, seeking the colors of Taiwan within an ever-shifting environment. Their creations reflect the resilience and regenerative power of culture.

We’re excited to announce renowned art director Yuni Yoshida’s first solo exhibition in Osaka, presented at "VS." in Grand Green Osaka. Known for her celebrated work with prominent artists and brands, Yoshida will debut PLAYING CARDS, previously showcased to acclaim in Seoul and Harajuku. This striking collection presents all 54 playing cards through photography. Alongside her sold-out art book and popular items, exclusive new merchandise will be available. A special collaboration with artist Daito Manabe also brings a fresh take on PLAYING CARDS for a unique viewing experience.

Continuum Resonance
Daito Manabe New Installation
Daito Manabe's new work "Continuum Resonance" is an installation where autonomous artworks installed in each space of "VS." interact with each other by sharing mathematical algorithms, music programming, and 3D architectural data. In this exhibition, Manabe collaborates with Sinan Bokezoy (artist/composer) to develop the groundbreaking 3D acoustic software "PolyNodes," creating an audiovisual resonance space where the space itself fluctuates three-dimensionally.

More than two decades ago, Tadao Ando became involved in the development of Umeda’s Umekita district. Now, in the spring and summer of 2025, the renowned architect—who also oversaw the design of VS.—returns to this space to present a long-awaited solo exhibition. Known for his dialogue with nature, Ando offers new insights from a freshly born green space at the heart of the city. As Osaka buzzes with anticipation for its first World Expo in half a century, Ando’s gaze is already fixed firmly on the future.
