About

“Taiwan Spectrum” is a sensory journey through geography, history, culture, and contemporary art. Through the evolution of Taiwanese visual art, the exhibition reflects a vivid microcosm of cultural fusion, creativity, and renewal. Spanning visuals, craft, and sound, the exhibition is composed of three interconnected spaces. Each space reflects a cultural phenomenon. In the interplay of sound, color, and light, viewers witness the island’s ever-evolving cultural vitality and creative force. Through their work, artists inherit history and embrace the present, seeking the colors of Taiwan within an ever-shifting environment. Their creations reflect the resilience and regenerative power of culture.

Exhibition Highlights

"True Colors of Taiwan" is an immersive visual theatre that combines holographic projection, realistic art screens, and lighting, inviting viewers to follow imagery that flows with the passing of time, and to experience how Taiwan’s natural landscapes and changing light have nurtured artists’ distinctive sensitivity to color. Taiwanese people are skilled at fusion, and so are their artists. At the intersection of painting and technology, they find the life force of Taiwan’s culture, embodying the spirit of “faith in everyday life,” where every brushstroke and every wash of color becomes an expression of love and devotion to this land.

"Lightwoven Nature" focuses on Taiwan’s dyeing and weaving culture, exploring how natural dyes drawn from plants and the skill of artisans come together to refine a palette of classic Taiwanese colors. The exhibition brings together photographs of native Taiwanese plants and dyeing materials, displayed alongside color samples and artisan techniques. Through contemporary dyeing and weaving works inspired by mountains, water, and wind, the works express a sense of fluid tactility and creation, demonstrating how artisans take inspiration from nature and, through the craft of dyeing and weaving, share Taiwan’s colors with the world, opening a dialogue on ecology and sustainability.

"Island Soundscape" invites visitors to immerse themselves in sound. In this collage-like sound theater, visitors can move through Taiwan’s layered soundscapes: listening to the chirping of birds in the mountains, the tides crashing against the shore, the wind sweeping across rice fields, the buzz of street corners, and the clamor of temple fairs while following spheres of light that guide them through Taiwan’s sonic memories. Visitors will also see how artists are inspired by Taiwan’s native species, combining mythical beast visuals and sound fields to create “sound totems” that embody the symbolic richness of Taiwan’s blended culture through the perspective of sound.

With diverse perspectives, Taiwan reflects on its own identity, engaging new-generation communities and integrating emerging technologies with various forms of cultural and artistic expression. Through the language of future generations, it shares an unique story with a global audience.
